Teaching is ….. The right word has yet to implant itself in my constant vocabulary and so I leave it open. I can however tell you what it isn’t. It isn’t flowers or daisies. It isn’t smiles and praises. It isn’t posters hung on walls of smiling teachers, friends and foes. It isn’t easy and it isn’t nice. Yet once in a while there’s a face that implants itself in your mind and no matter the action, there’s no retraction. You see and breathe it, as though a fairy has sat on your shoulder and began to snap her finger, stomp her foot and click her pen, as fairies in my class often do. The year is a crazy drive and the finish line is nowhere in sight. Yet…..the end of the year delivers that small ounce of hope that your fairy may very well fly across the stage into the arms of the adult world, and it all of a sudden fills you with pride to unimaginable extent.
And the greatest feeling in the world is carefully choosing and finally settling on the fairy of the year. Now let’s hope she proves me right!
Fairy dust to you all
Another day another post. Time flies and our busy lives take up so much time that one only has the strength to climb to the remote and press the magical button which leads us to the display of Gilmore Girls episodes proudly acquired on eBay! I must admit I’m quite an overachiever! All seasons of Gilmore Girls mastered in two weeks is quite a milestone! However, now that I’ve watched them all I’m at a loss. What’s next?!? (Seriously would love to know of your favorite show but please refrain from sharing for the sake of or praising the current hit simply to do so. I’d rather watch Gigi for the thousandth time.)
Now back to me. I’ve often considered closing shop and starting anew as “Chronicles of a Bad Teacher” or “Run Children Run” but until I figure out the legalities of the sharing aspect you’ll just have to read between the lines of ….. Today I walked away with a headache because Natalie simply couldn’t shhhhhh. Now why didn’t Gilmore Girls live for another season?!?
It’s been a long time, but as the saying goes…it is what it is.
One thing I can point out in my defense is the fact that I did FINALLY commit to something, yet sadly it wasn’t this blog. However, I am a firm believer that doing is always better than writing. Don’t get me wrong, writing is awesome, yet to have something to write about, one must partake in the act of doing.
The last few months I’ve been a regular attendee of one very cool trainer who I’m sure would be happy to attest to the fact that I DO actually exercise! Now some of you may picture me hopping along, jumping my jacks, waving my wand, etc. You would be wrong! You are now in the virtual presence of an actual weight lifting, muscle building skinny minnie who would rather give up her cookies than stop on the ninth push up.
Now let’s get to those cookies! I have a serious problem letting go! Isn’t that crazy?!? All this commitment to exercise, yet I can’t turn away from the almond shaped cream filled creation. It’s the most addicting thing and can only be bought at a Russian store or be prepared by a certain grandmother who must have smuggled the iron form creating dish in her one allowed suitcase from the old country. So whether you’re begging the old lady to bake you a batch or making the trip to the other side, I say it’s totally worth it.
Now the fact that this post is lacking a certain kind of outfit photo may have you worried. “Did she stop shopping?” you may ask. Let me assure you, that will never happen! I’m simply missing a photographer at the moment, but look at you….you just read half a page and met your reading requirement for the day!
