It’s been a long time, but as the saying goes…it is what it is.
One thing I can point out in my defense is the fact that I did FINALLY commit to something, yet sadly it wasn’t this blog. However, I am a firm believer that doing is always better than writing. Don’t get me wrong, writing is awesome, yet to have something to write about, one must partake in the act of doing.
The last few months I’ve been a regular attendee of one very cool trainer who I’m sure would be happy to attest to the fact that I DO actually exercise! Now some of you may picture me hopping along, jumping my jacks, waving my wand, etc. You would be wrong! You are now in the virtual presence of an actual weight lifting, muscle building skinny minnie who would rather give up her cookies than stop on the ninth push up.
Now let’s get to those cookies! I have a serious problem letting go! Isn’t that crazy?!? All this commitment to exercise, yet I can’t turn away from the almond shaped cream filled creation. It’s the most addicting thing and can only be bought at a Russian store or be prepared by a certain grandmother who must have smuggled the iron form creating dish in her one allowed suitcase from the old country. So whether you’re begging the old lady to bake you a batch or making the trip to the other side, I say it’s totally worth it.
Now the fact that this post is lacking a certain kind of outfit photo may have you worried. “Did she stop shopping?” you may ask. Let me assure you, that will never happen! I’m simply missing a photographer at the moment, but look at you….you just read half a page and met your reading requirement for the day!
Birthdays are a Big Deal! Always have been! It’s a day when my mother and I call in sick. It’s a day when we go to the latest craze of a restaurant. And it is a day when it’s just the two of us shopping and hanging out. It’s always been a tradition, without regard to friends, boyfriends, jobs or family. It has been “our” thing. It hasn’t changed since I got married three years ago, and I don’t plan on allowing it to change for any reason since we’ve lasted this long.
Since my mother and I value our alone time, yet don’t want to disappoint the masses, I’ve committed to throwing a birthday bash every year. This year I got a little more creative and added a theme to the party …I called it the Mad Men 50s. It was a great pleasure to see people dress up wether we were in sync or not.
Because I’m such a fan (addict) of Ulyana Sergeenko, I wanted to dress exactly like her. Let’s just say it’s not easy when one of her dressed retails for 20 thousand euro, but I think I did well enough.
Have you thrown or attended a themed birthday? I’m now a true believer!
One of the most important aspects of getting into shape is creating the right diet. Now the word “diet” stands for eating plan, and not the recent usage of the word signifying weight loss. A diet is something you commit to and follow for better results, yet it is not a three day juicing cleanse, thirty day lemonade mix, or a starvation plan. Actually, in order to lose weight and define the muscle one must eat five times a day: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner.
With this in mind I have devoted the last few full days to Instagram and the recipes of those who are competing bodybuilders and therefore know what they’re talking about. One such recipe is the breakfast of champions! And let me just say, this breakfast won’t leave you hungry by 10 a.m.
I love the jar idea as I use them for everything. It’s my wine glass, champagne flute, water glass, and oatmeal container.
This recipe makes 2 portions
Mix and cook
1/2 cup of oatmeal
1/2 cup of water
1/3 cup of coconut milk
Place even portions into the jars.
Now top off each jar with the following:
1 tbsp low fat cottage cheese
1 tbsp Sunflower seeds
1 tsp Flax seed (whole)
2 Prunes – diced
1/2 a peach – diced
Place in refrigerator until morning. In the morning add some coconut milk and stir.
Enjoy your breakfast!
